Edgar Thomas Congdon (1850 - 1929)

Edgar "Ed" Thomas Congdon (probably Thomas Edgar Congdon) was born Jul. 9, 1850, in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA; d. Apr. 13, 1929, in Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA. He married Dec. 25, 1872, to Emma Vaughan, b. 1854 in Bradford Co., PA.

He was the 2nd of 3 children of Sarah Campbell, b. 1824, in Nelson, d. 1892 in Nelson; and Benjamin Docray Congdon, b. 1820, on Shelter Island, Suffolk Co., NY, d. 1897.

Ed was a painter and paint crew foreman for Union Pacific first at their maintenance sheds in Brainerd, Crow Wing Co., MN; then in Tacoma, WA. His younger brother, Charlie, followed him to Brainerd, where cousin Herbert Hughey had moved.

Ed and Emma Vaughan Congdon had 2 children:

1. Georgiana Congdon, b. 1873 in Nelson, m. Oscar M. Parks, a Mr. Merritt, and Harry M. Weir; &
2. Leroy "Edd" Vaughan Congdon, b. 1881 in Brainerd, m. Helen Nancy Cooper.
